Team Leader BIM Electrical Design & Shop drawing Engineer

The Team Leader BIM Electrical Design & Shop drawing Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design and development of electrical systems for construction projects. This role requires expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and proficiency in electrical design principles, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the development of electrical designs and shop drawings using BIM software
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure compliance with standards and regulations
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to identify potential issues or conflicts
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, structural) to ensure integration of electrical systems within the overall building design
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, including mentoring junior & Seniors engineers
  • Conduct regular meetings with the team to discuss project progress, resolve issues, and provide feedback on performance
  • Perform quality control checks on completed designs and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in electrical design technology, and changes in codes or regulations related to electrical systems
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for electrical systems based on project specifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in electrical design & shop drawing for construction projects, preferably within the building services industry
  • Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit MEP) for creating 3D models, generating shop drawings, clash detection, etc
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, codes (e.g., NEC), standards (e.g., IEEE), and best practices
  • Experience leading a team of engineers is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills for problem-solving and identifying potential issues during the design process
